My Review

After the rollercoaster of Book 1 I couldn’t wait to get stuck into Book 2. We dive straight back into Sophie’s story and at the funeral of her friend from the end of the last book. I really don’t want to say too much as I don’t want to give too many spoilers for Book 1. With I Know Your Every Move you get the back drop for As Sick As Our Secrets. You get to find out why Sophie is the way she is and what led up to the funeral. The second book can be read as a standalone, but I’d highly recommend reading the first.

With this instalment you get to read most of the story from Sophie’s perspective but for a few chapters you do get to read about Randy – the gangster –  I’m not quite sure why he got his say but I do believe karma got him in the end, after a tragic accident.

I do find Sophie a little naïve and the fact she wants to try and please everyone. I did feel sorry for her when Randy’s thugs broke into her safe place. But she really should learn how to say that teeny tiny 2 letter word – NO! – she seems to try and do everything for everyone else, but that ends up in her relapsing and going back to her addiction as she’s just too stressed and full of anxiety.

But… I am invested in Sophie and although naïve she is a fantastic main character. She goes to show that even with flaws you can overcome anything. I’m also routing for her and Jack as I think she needs some happiness after the amount of crap and sadness she’s had to endure. I’m also really hoping she manages to stay off the booze.

I’m really looking forward to the next book, which I’m reviewing next month as part of another tour! But this one had a few twists, a few turns, and quite the page turner! Highly recommended but definitely read book 1 first.
