As soon as the email landed in my inbox for the tour for all 4 of these books I knew I had to join in. I had previously read book 1 which is The Bride’s Trail and that review can be read here. This can be read as a standalone, it doesn’t go into what happened in the first book much so even if you’ve never read it, you’ll be fine.

For me the writing style seemed to be completely different for this book. I’m sure there wasn’t, but to me if felt like we were flitting between more characters than we did in the first. Obviously the main character is Kat, but we seem to spend more time with Marty Bridges than we did with Kat.

Kat has had a bit of a hard life. But in my eyes, that’s made her into the strong, independent woman she is today. But she’s quite the gold digger and is most definitely only with her fiancé for his money. She definitely has a tough time here and I’m hoping she might just catch a break in the next book.

I quite like Marty Bridges, he’s a bit of a gangster and is from Birmingham. Although he has a lot of flaws, I think he has a heart of gold. I also think he’s knows a lot more than he’s letting on about what happened in the past.

This was good and everything seemed to flow together and was a quick read. I’m looking forward to the next one, watch this space as it’s also coming up as part of another tour! So far I’d recommend the series but they can definitely be read as a standalone.
