Janna’s heart is heavy with grief and broken by betrayal. But as she leaves the big city for a quaint midwestern town, the future feels less frightening with her best friend, Shelby, by her side. After landing a job in the local fresh market and the attention of a handsome architect, she may yet learn to heal old scars…
Shelby loves the position Janna secured for her and the new sense of community but wishes small-town life wasn’t so lonely. After packing up all she could salvage from her painful past, she endures more than her fair share of bumps on the winding road to recovery. Afraid her heart may be too damaged for real love, she drowns her sorrows in drunken nights at bars.
With new heartaches around every corner, can Janna and Shelby stay true to their friendship and their dream of lasting freedom?
Daring Dreamer is the first book in the Inspiration in Cologne series of women’s fiction novels. If you like brave women, picturesque settings, and second chance romance, then you’ll love Deborah King’s empowering saga.

Questions and Answers for Nemesis Blog.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions.

  1. Where did you find the inspiration for your book?

Daring Dreamer and the remaining books in the Inspiration in Cologne series are filled with my passions. I have also lived in a rural area for a few years and found the distinct differences of city/rural living intriguing. I knew I would enjoy writing about a small town setting.

  1. If your book came with a theme song, what would it be and why?

Alicia Keys’s, “Girl on Fire.” I’ve actually written a scene in Daring Dreamer where the protagonist sings this song at an employee party she’s hosting along with her best friend and roommate. This song inspires me to follow my dreams as my main characters’ do in my story. It energizes and uplifts me and makes me believe my dreams are attainable.

  1. Who is your favourite character and why?

I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite character. I’ve spent years with them and they all have their own virtues, strengths, and vulnerabilities.

  1. What is your favourite genre/author to read?

I enjoy reading women’s fiction. I like many authors, but I particularly enjoy reading Liane Moriarty and Maeve Binchy.

  1. Do you have any tips on the process of getting published.

After reading many articles and listening to hours of webinars, I chose the Indie author route. For me, it was no-brainer.

  1. When you’re not writing, what other hobbies do you have?

I live to workout when I’m not writing. My workouts vary every day. I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, and cooking when time allows.

  1. What are you working on at the moment?

At the moment, I’m working on answering your questions. LOL Seriously, I would like to personally thank you for participating in Daring Dreamer’s, Rachel’s Random Resources tour. I have just finished writing the prequel to the Inspiration in Cologne series, Destined Dreamer, and am now reviewing my editor’s notes on my second book in the series, which is scheduled to be released in September, 2019. I’m also in the process of writing the third book in the series.

  1. Where is your favourite place to write?

I enjoy writing in my comfy chair in the family room with my cat sitting on my lap. I begin writing in the early evening and finish around ten or eleven o’clock.

  1. What are your go-to tools for writing?

I use a mechanical pencil and a larger black eraser when my pencil’s eraser disintegrates. I go through numerous pages on my legal pads for my first draft and writing various long notes that pop into my mind when I’m not writing. I love post-it notes for specific words, page numbers, and website URL’s, etc. My desk is surrounded by them. Google is my primary research tool for any required credible data in my stories. After all, they are fiction. I write in Word on my computer to create my final first draft. I have to take periodic breaks and workout. Working out helps my story ideas ripen. My multitalented editor is the final step in my writing process.
